Dominican Prayer Life
Lay Dominicans participate in a rich liturgical life and spend a lifetime developing an interior life. We pattern ourselves on the spirituality of St. Dominic, and as such, we devote ourselves to the Mass, Divine Office, rosary, and the study of Scripture.

Rosary
[ ✚ ] In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
V. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
R. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
V. O Lord, open my lips. (trace sign of cross on lips)
R. And my mouth will announce your praise.
V. ✚ Incline unto my aid, O God.
R. O Lord, make haste to help me.
V. Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit;
R. As it was in the beginning is now and will be forever. Amen. Alleluia. (except in Lent)
NOTE: The Rosary begins with the first mystery and the “Leader” (if in community) announces each mystery.
Concluding Prayers:
Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy! Hail, our Life, our Sweetness and our Hope! To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve; to thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn, then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy towards us, and after this, our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary!
V. Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, pray for us.
R. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
V: May the Divine Assistance remain always with us;
R: And may the souls of the faithful departed through the Mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
Let us pray:
O God, who’s only begotten Son, by His life, death and resurrection, has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life, grant we beseech thee, that meditating on these mysteries of the most Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we may imitate what they contain and obtain what they promise, through the same Christ, Our Lord. Amen.
Prayer to St. Dominic
I. O glorious Saint Dominic, thou who was a model of mortification and purity, by punishing thy innocent body with scourges, with fastings and with watchings, and by keeping inviolate the lily of thy virginity, obtain for us the grace to practice penance with a generous heart and to keep unspotted the purity of our bodies and our hearts.
Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be.
II. O great Saint, who, inflamed with divine love, did find thy delight in prayer and intimate union with God; obtain for us to be faithful in our daily prayers, to love Our Lord ardently, and to observe His commandments with ever increasing fidelity.
Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be.
III. O glorious Saint Dominic, who being filled with zeal for the salvation of souls, did preach the Gospel in season and out of season and did establish the Order of Friars Preachers to labor for the conversion of heretics and poor sinners, pray thou to God for us, that He may grant us to love all our brethren sincerely and to cooperate always, by our prayers and good works, in their sanctification and eternal salvation.
Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be.
V. Pray for us, Saint Dominic,
R. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ
Let us pray:
Grant, we beseech Thee, Almighty God, that we who are weighed down by the burden of our sins may be raised up by the patronage of blessed Dominic Thy confessor. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
O Wonderful Hope (O Spem Miram)
Fulfill, O Father Dominic, what thou hast said, and assist us by thy prayers.
O thou, who didst shine illustrious by so many miracles wrought on the bodies of the sick, bring us the help of Christ to help our sick souls.
Fulfill, O Father Dominic, what thou hast said, and help us by they prayers.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost.
Fulfill, O Father Dominic, what thou hast said, and help us by thy prayers.
V. Pray for us, Blessed Father Dominic.
R. That we may be made worthy of the promise of Christ.
Let us Pray:
O God, who didst vouchsafe to enlighten Thy Church with the merits and teaching of blessed Dominic, Thy confessor and our father; grant through his intercession, that we may not be wanting in temporal help, and may we always increase in spiritual growth. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
